About Us

Childs Elementary, located on the east side of Bloomington, serves over 450 students in grades Pre-K through six. The faculty and staff at Childs pride themselves on fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment that ensures all children learn and achieve at high levels. Childs has a rich tradition of academic success, including being recognized as a National Blue-Ribbon school in both 2007 and 2013, and being named the #1 public elementary school in the state of Indiana by U.S. News and World Report in 2024. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, students engage in enriching IB units of study that promote critical thinking and authentic action within our local and global community.
