Childs Elementary School
The second grade classes follow a program started by Dr. Ann McIntosh about twelve years ago (she's now retired as librarian from Childs). It features a list of books in 24 categories from throughout the library. The goal of this program is to widen the range of reading at the student's reading level. Children are instructed in how to find the books using the Dewy Decimal classification and authors names and how to "read" a bibliography. The students select the books from the following categories.
