If you are interested in volunteering for any of the following events or committees, please contact a PTO Board member or print out this form and return it to your child's teacher.

  • Welcome Breakfast - Help organize this event that welcomes new families to Childs at the beginning of the school year.
  • Welcome Packets - Make copies and assemble folders of information to welcome new families to Childs School. Most work will be done in the spring in preparation for the following school year and kindergarten registration.
  • Fall Teacher Appreciation Dinner - Help provide a meal for teachers during the hectic Parent/Teacher Conferences in November. Donate food, drinks, table service, etc. or help set up or clean up.
  • Pizza Supper at Open House - Help serve the meal and/or clean up
  • Student Directory - Editor's duties include collecting the address forms, updating the listing of students in each class, having the copies published. Help is also needed to proofread, collect order forms, and sell the directories at the Fall Open House.
  • Newsletter - Duties include collecting news items and creating the newsletter. Part of the PTO Publicity Committee.
  • Textbook Adoption - Serve on a committee to help select new textbooks.
  • Market Day - Help with monthly Market Day sales after school.
  • Website Maintenance - Familiar with Dreamweaver software or HTML? Assistants are needed to update and maintain the school website.
  • Computer Support - Assist students in the classroom or the computer lab as they use the computers.
  • PTO Bulletin Board - Assist with decorating the PTO bulletin board by the gym.

  • CHIPTO E-mail List - Duties include collecting events information and publishing the weekly e-mail update using a web-based distribution system. Part of the PTO publicity committee.
  • Yearbook - Assist with the production of the school yearbook, including photographing students and teachers at school.
  • Box Tops for Education - General Mills box tops are collected as a fundraiser for the school. Volunteers are needed to assist with preparation of box tops for mailing to General Mills.
  • Library Book Fair - Help set up, work as a cashier and floor "salesperson," or ask about serving on the organizing committee (includes ordering, balancing accounts, etc.)
  • Peer Mediation Luncheon - Provide food for 4-6th grade peer mediators.
  • Sixth Grade Recognition Event - Help with the reception following the Sixth Grade Recognition program at the end of the school year.
  • Spring Teacher Appreciation Week - a series of events to show how much we love our teachers! Events vary from year to year, but help is always needed.
  • Spring Teacher Appreciation Dinner - Help provide a meal for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring. Donate food, drinks, table service, etc. or help set up or clean up.
  • Carnival - The Spring Carnival is the PTO's biggest fundraiser. Volunteers are needed in many different areas, including: planning and organization; set-up; running classroom games; serving food at the Pizza Supper; donating baked goods for the bake sale and cake walk; donating two-liter bottles of soda for the "Pop Toss" game; clean-up; and more. Your child's teacher will ask for volunteers for your classroom's activity. More information will be sent home as the time for the carnival nears.
  • Silent Auction/Raffle - Part of the Spring Carnival. Help is needed soliciting donations, organizing, and running the auction/raffle during Carnival.
