Students chose leaves taken from the school's outdoor habitat. Leaves were drawn onto watercolor paper after a discussion of types of leaves and trees (characteristics, why leaves are necessary, why they change color). Methods used for watercolor was demonstrated. Students did background work first, and then used watercolor pencils to detail the leaves.
