Compass art exposes 5th grade students to the use of the compass as an art tool and allows them to practice the idea of radial symmetry. Papers are folded on diagonals and also in halves as guidelines. Students are instructed how to center and measure with a ruler to match areas to get an exact pattern. Color is applied with the idea of symmetry in color as well.
