Students were asked to make a choice of creating a container or a scissor bird. The sculptures used many methods of handling clay: coil, slab, construction, pinch pot, etc. The birds were done over two class periods (one for the body, one for the head). After the assignments were completed and fired, the pieces were painted in tempera.
