Each student traced the outline of his or her shoe. All detail, value, and texture was then drawn into the contour line of the shoe. Special attention was to be given to how the laces are overlapped in the eyelets. Most students chose to use a value scale (black, gray, and white) to finish their work, colored pencil was optional.
